Drive Beyond Reason
What is the drive beyond reason,
our abject longing-- obsessing over others’ words and actions, going to any lengths to please the beloved, covering child in sudden danger, desiring sexual communion. What is this drive beyond reason that leads us all here-- bare loneliness, the depth of kisses, the rise, the fall? Is it simply the dog in heat panting in chase, the dandelion pushing through concrete to live? Is it the drive to sacrament, love, and care? Or is it all simply the longing to be undone and remade whole together? © 2012, Tess Lockhart. All rights reserved. |
